VIEWED FROM THE AIR, WE SEEM TO HAVE LOGIC AND REASON.

With the invention of flight we have been able to view the earth from above and with the invention of photography,
record it! The development of Aerial Photography
began in the 1850's when balloons with cameras attached were sent aloft.
Today we have satellites taking pictures of the earth, a greater number of people are now flying and with the exposure from
television and film to the "aerial perspective" this view has become more common. It was because of these technologies
I was able to develop Aerial Landscape
Painting. This new approach to viewing landscape seemed to me a logical
progression
from the traditional Landscape Paintings we have been exposed too. In 1980 I started the Aerial Series,
using photos as a reference, which were taken while flying with my sister over the Los Angeles area. These
early paintings were "realistic" then latter developed to a more
"expressionistic" and "abstract" nature. I painted this
Aerial Series for about 6 years
and completed over 120 acrylic on canvas pieces and hundreds of works on paper.
After this series I went on working with abstracted plant forms and other ideas.
